1. The design begins digitally

3. The production mold is made

When the master model is ready, a casting mold is created.

It is this mold that is then used when the body or head is manufactured in TPE or silicone.

A single body size may require several separate mold parts.

The more advanced and detailed the body, the more complicated the mold.

4. The skeleton is assembled

Inside almost all full-size modern sex dolls is a metallic skeleton.

The skeleton gives the doll its structure and allows the body to be positioned.

Usually the skeleton is made of stainless steel or other metal alloys.

It contains joints at for example:

• wrist

TPE

TPE stands for Thermoplastic Elastomer.

The material is very soft and elastic and has long been popular in sex dolls.

TPE can provide a very soft and pliable body and is generally cheaper to produce than silicone.

Silicone

Silicone used mainly on premium dolls.

The material can provide:

• highly detailed skin texture

• more stable shapes

• realistic painting

• better possibility for advanced details

• high wear resistance.

7. The material cures

Once the material has been poured or injected into the mold, it must cure.

The process differs between TPE and silicone.

• curing time

• consistency of the material.

If the mixture goes wrong, uneven hardness, air bubbles or other defects may result.

8. The doll is removed from the mold

When the material has hardened, the mold is opened and the body is carefully removed.

There is still a long way to go before the doll is finished.

After casting, there are usually visible joints from the mold.

These must be removed by hand.

The production staff therefore goes through the body and works on areas such as:

• neck

• shoulders

• sides

• legs

• hands

• feet.

In better manufacturers, this work can be very careful because visible casting joints quickly deteriorate the overall impression.

9. The skin gets details and texture

On premium dolls, the skin can be processed after casting.

It can be about creating or enhancing:

• skin structure

• veins

• pigmentation

• small color variations

• palms

• nails.

The goal is to avoid the skin looking completely smooth and plastic-like.

Real human skin consists of lots of small color variations, which means that realistic painting often uses several different shades.
